What products?
Concealers exist in either a fluid texture or (ideal for touch-ups) in a
compact form in a stick or pencil presentation. For blemishes, a dry
stick concealer may be more useful but around the eye area, a softer
product is needed to avoid tugging at the delicate skin.
What shade?
Concealers exist in several beige or pink shades to be selected
according to the skin tone. Always co-ordinate the concealer color
with foundation color and skin tone. Concealer should be one shade
lighter than the foundation.
What color?
A perfecting base is used in the case of ‘corrective’ make-up to
neutralise and rebalance skin tone. Perfecting bases exist in fluid or
cream texture, powder or stick. Choose the colour according to the
correcting effect on natural skin colour:
GREEN • Use to camouflage redness.
• Use only for local application.
PURPLE • Use to lighten dull or sallow
complexion. (e.g.: Asian skin)
ORANGE
• Use to enlighten olive
complexion, or enhance a
tanned skin.
WHITE PINK • Use to make a light complexion
more radiant.
Application:
Even a young skin can benefit from concealer as it gives it a fresher
more uniform appearance by disguising tiny imperfections, veins and
redness.
Where to apply concealer:
.A. Cover the entire area from the eyelid to the eyebrow.
B. Mask dark rings under the eyes,
staying close to the nose.
C. Cover any redness still visible
through the foundation.
D. Cover any blemishes.
E. Avoid applying concealer to the
under eye area, as fine lines or
wrinkles become prominent
For perfection:
Apply the concealer only on the
darkest area of the eye contour;
Gently blend the concealer anywhere around the eye area to avoid
stretching the delicate skin. In case of puffiness, avoid too light a
shade which will only exaggerate this problem.
